Several of our members recently attended a weekend-long training session with close to 100 other Search and Rescue volunteers from around the Island.
Hosted by Cowichan Search and Rescue, this annual training event gives SAR volunteers from groups across Vancouver Island a chance to work and train together on a series of mock search scenarios. Participants had a chance to exercise their Ground SAR, Rope Rescue, Water Rescue and K-9 Rescue skills.
The local RCMP were also present, and created an elaborate mock crime scene for participants to work through. This was a fantastic opportunity for the RCMP to review their expectations and requirements for handling potential evidence.
